Iraq: Constitution

Appears to have passed.

While my financial interest wants this to be meaningful, I have to say I would bet that this is 90 percent likely to be another meaningless 'benchmark' as I don't believe any of the real drivers in the inter-communal politics have changed.

Process, blather.

Well, one more step closer to the US declaring that it has established a free and self-sustaning model democracy in the Mideast (allowing it to finally withdraw a substantial number of troops and satisfy both the Left and Right). Then a few months down the road, after much useless squabbling in chambers as IEDs go off outside, the factions decide that the political process does not help them realize their dreams of [insert power-grabbing policy here] and they all start killing each other. Only hopeful thing right now is that Iraqis on all sides seem to be rather keen on participating in the process.

This of course leaves all the well-meaning war profiteers like you out in the cold. You poor thing.

You mean, the process of.....killing each other? I was noting earlier the increasingly uncivil tone between the religious Shi'a leaders and the Kurds.
