Reflexions
A few personal thoughts. Nothing of interest really.
Well, more blood today.
Odd how quickly one's health can get buggered by something out of left field.
A month ago I could spring up four flights of stairs.
Now, I get winded with blood at the nostrils heading across a couple of rooms.
Really quite unpleasant. Have to see the Dr. about that.
On the other hand, I am learning to be tolerant of some of my dear relations from around here that have taken me in. Haven't seen them in years, they're being very, very kind. It's somewhat amusing that I have 10 year cousins that I did not know I had. Not distant ones at that. Well, I do play the role of the mad uncle or what not. Somewhat perhaps less encouraging, I do believe my little 11 year old cousin has fallen in love with me. She wants to take me, "her handsome foreign cousin" to show and tell. That's no good at all. Her father died early, it would not be a good thing for her to grow attached to myself.
Well, clearly I need to get back to work, reflexions are bad things in the end.

Well, dyspnea and pain can have a huge impact on your overall well-being. Luckily, both can be alleviated by addressing the root cause, or by treating the symptoms with separate procedures/drugs.
Honestly I thought someone like you would be very good at complaining. Make a fuss whenever you feel the slightest discomfort.

L,
you have the women swoon over you wherever you go. and there i thought that the pic in your profile was arrogant bragging ...

Actually, that pic is my doing. He didn't have the time to write a bio and I had to do something with that empty page, so...

I dislike complaining about pain and the like.
As for the profile, I did not even know that was there for the longest time.
Perhaps a disclaimer is in order. Something like "the editors of 'Aqoul, being unable to squeeze any information or images out of 'The Lounsbury' find it amusing to provide you with this stand in."
In any case, this little piece of self-indulgence is probably too much.

I know you don't like complaining, but do try to be a bother. Stiff upper lip does you no good. Symptom relief is key and doctors are good at that sort of thing.
Well. It seems I've turned into some sort of annoying maternal type now. Next I'll be nagging about buttoning up your coat properly when you go outside.
Re: profile, I should probably add a disclaimer of some sort. Or you could write a bio, but I'm rather attached to the Bond photo now.

Symptom relief is key
Or in other words, and as I’ve said on analogous occasions, sometimes drugs are your friend (and this from a non-partaker). No point in being a martyr. Pain creates stress, and stress inhibits healing and all.
Also, a hint, should you be stuck in hospital for any length of time – ask for pain meds at the same time that you need other things, like help moving around or dressing changes or whatever. Non-med tasks such as the latter can be performed by relatively peon allied health personnel with little training (at least here they can – no idea how different things are where you are), but IM all too extensive E there is a world of difference between the way a green CNA moves an injured person and the way an experienced RN moves an injured person.

dear all,
DO keep the the picture!!! 'tis PERFECT.
and no disclaimer either!
eerie & evaluna, i don't see where you get the idea that L is playing martyr. he just hates complaining about pain. that makes him a ... male. i have complete confidence in him re: his capacity to maintain his trade-mark "fuck you" (or, in his case, "bugger off") attitude even when facing unpleasant health issues.
it IS kinda cute, though, how this is bringing out the mommy in you two.

I'm about as curmudgeonly about children as you can get, but even I find myself playing the doting uncle once in awhile. I fear it is evolutionarily hardwired somehow - curse those adorable nieces!
Also what Eva amd Eerie said about pain relief. I learned that the hard way as well ( and had my doctor scolding at me for trying to be to stoic ).

Oh shut up raf.
(in case this is not evident, I am not being serious)
Posted by: eerie at December 20, 2005 06:53 PM
Raf: well, I think that would involve, as in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, an accident with a time machine and a contraceptive.

Introspection from the L.
Sentimental sympathy from us guys.
The two E's getting all yenta.
God, cancer really really sucks.

Well, I quite liked Col's bit of introspection - there's a hint of (gasp!) vulnerability and tenderness in it (especially regarding his niece). It's also nice to hear that he has some family around and that they've been very nice and supportive.
Tamerlane - I have nieces as well (4 altogether) and I must agree that an avuncular nature must be hardwired to some degree.

Matthew, according to Leo Rosten's Joys of Yiddish, Yenta was a perfectly good first name for girls until it was misappropriated by gossips. I will not, however, deny certain Jewish mother tendencies in myself - but to call Ms. Eerie a Jewish mother strikes me as the height of hilarity, all things considered.

Bother. Moment of stupidity, shall take it down soon enough.
Pain in the kneck, can't bloody concentrate.
