Offline again

Afraid I shall have to disappear. My morons have completely fucked one of my clients, so completely fucked my client I am going to be lucky to be able to rescue this. Stupid fuckers, goddamned stupid fuckers. I knew these idiots were going to fuck this up, fancy fucking idiots.

I can resist exploding about this for a moment.

This fuckup is incredibly fucking irrtating and completely illustrates why I need to ditch these people.

The client in question is brand new, leading boutique investment house for the region, great profile.. An up and commer. I spent months working the Director of Asset Management to get us a chance to work on some upcoming new products/ initiatives that the client is looking at as part of an expansion with a view of breaking into the "developed markets" market.

The Director of the firm's AM section throws me a bone, after I manage to charm her, and get my Titanic work on some key core development work. So home office lines up some "super stars" on this, and in early Fall things start. Now I am utterly against these dudes, and wanted to bring in my own peeps. But no, Central wants to use the Italian Stallion Super Stars, they keep trying to treat this as a transactional deal, their transactional deal. Not servicing a client, whanking themselves.

What ensues is six months of Titanics fancy boys addy boys conference calls with client as they "try to understand" where the client wants to go - of course there the clienht wanted to go was clearly laid out in my goddamned documentation on the client, etc. Extensive fucking work. But no, fancy boys want to go off on every fucking possible tangent. Spins wheels, spins wheels.

Then the shitheads get pissed off because the client blew off their "brilliant" little package they insisted on submitting, as it had fuck all to do with what we were supposed to be focused on. Week starts with them declaring they're not going to do with public product seminar that I had lined up (on what I wanted covered), because the clients weren't listeing.

Rotted bastards. Today, they quit. Blows up. Two weeks from deadline. Now I have nothing except some useless bullshit these morons fucked me over on.

Now, I gotta call the client, explain the project is fucked, I have nothing for them, and I am not sure when we can deliver.

If I can keep her on board, someone should give me a fucking medel.

Ah yes, going offline to take care of things, as it were.

You have no idea.

the only word i can think of is "wow."

good luck saving the day. well, i'm sure with your fanclub (read: eerie and her bond image of you), i'm sure you'll manage.

Indeed. Now, 10 pts to anyone who can divine what I was refering to in that artful dodge before I delete it.

Politically, is it really wise to try to save this deal? Your hands are completely clean, having been otherwise occupied these last few months. Perhaps the best outcome, from your perspective, would be to have the deal blow up and then have the client write to your management committee excoriating the "super stars" as clueless screw-ups. For bonus points, she might mention that you are the only one who ever actually understood what your firm was supposed to be doing for them.

Sometimes, a disaster is better than a victory, especially if it happens to someone else.

It's going to be blown as there is no way for things to be delivered by end of Quarter as promised. (Not by me)

However, in the end, its my client and I have to put something else together for the woman or I look like a moron as well. Well, I wasn't so stupid as not to have a sidebar so to speak w the woman, so I have some personal insulation, but.... Well losing the client is losing the client in the end.

Ideal situ is she's pissed, but I am able to put together a package for next quarter to pull the chestnuts out of the fire.

In any case, I gotta get back to working the lines. Even getting a rescue package for next quarter is going to take major work.

Funny:) I've had a few situations of that kind these last couple of years:)
I guess from your post that you don't have any authority over those losers... Or is there any way to force them into doing the job? I don't know much about your field, but in mine, delivering even a partial package with some blah blah might be better than nothing to try to save the account.

Posted by: Yobaranut at March 3, 2006 05:41 AM

No authority over the losers. They're US based, I am not. Big Cheeses are neg. seperation, goddamned Titanic.

I am personally going to have to cobble together a package. Head office fuckers better give Cancer Boy double credit for this.

Well, if I can be of any help, tell me. Seriously. I'm not an expert in your field (I'm an IT expert, and I've got some training and experience in management in a couple of countries). But I'm intellectually curious, so it can't hurt to consider helping on anything (provided I have the resources for it). Drop me a mail if you're interested.
