Agitprop Blogs: Or Does It Explode
For a rather long time I believe eerie has had the blog, "...Or Does It Explode?' on the aggregator. For just about as long, I have rather not been taken with the same, for all its purported focus on "Civil Right" in MENA - a claim I would say is bollocks. Today, however, a post took me over the edge (and not only me, as another commentator - unless deleted - shows).
When it comes down to it, the blog has, in my opinion, a MEMRI approach. Always negative (although sometimes with a fake positive spin), and a concern not with a genuine evolution of civil and political rights for all communities in MENA, but rather (i) a blog to highlight the "evil" backwardness of the MENA Arabo-Islamic world, (ii) engage in the sadly too typical error (it may be honest or dishonest hypocrisy in this case) of presuming that only a social, political and civil rights constellation that looks just like American society, right at this moment (not ten years ago, not twenty, but right at this political moment reflecting the eternal (momentary) values of the moment) are of course the precisely correct benchmark.
Now mind you, that a blog takes a critical POV does not bother me, I rather think I rarely have terribly positive things to say about anything at all (positive cheerleading being boring to be frank, but also usually less enlightening than criticisms - but well-rounded ones). However, criticism, even harsh criticism, should be constructive and made in good faith.
I would say that this blog is not, in fact in good faith (or in the alternative is written by a complete idiot of a Tottenesque nature, but a better writer with clearer expression and less obviously drooling stupidity).

Hmm, I recall putting that one on because it had a decent entry on Iranian net censorship, but haven't been following it recently. The post you highlight is annoying though.
Should do some housekeeping.

What bothers me most is the bastardization of that lovely poem.
