Biz Dev Bollocks

Exhausted, working madly on massaging a market penetration strategy for some new areas that I have to implement, but had not a jot of input in, have no power to change except on the margins, and which is so entirely wrong-headed I spend half my time thinking maybe I should resign rather than be responsible for it.

And my assistant, thinking all this is somehow symbolic of great moves on our (firm) part, asked me for a 20% raise. I had to be frank and said "We're fucking sinking, and you have a job in six months, I'll get us raises, but this promo is a desperation move."

Afraid most of my peeps just don't get how brutal an American firm can be when the targets are not met. I'm working at exceeding by 100%, maybe will get 30% and will look good. Just meeting means we're history. Undershoot like the last dude, well, breadline for me.

and people wonder why I am not all excited about this move. All the shit, none of the fun.

If you had been wearing your leggings to the office, in approved mondo trendo mode, you might have escaped this assignment.
