In un-MENA matters, retarded fashion gits

Nothing in the least to do with MENA or any of my normal subjects. But this piece of utter idiocy was at once sufficiently annoying and amusing as to pull me away from my normal obessions.

Now I know there are many out there who will think I have lost it when I write that a key, new must-have for men this coming fall will be a pair of leggings to be worn outside, not just in, the house, but that was the big message at the debut Marni men's runway show this morning in Milan.

Lost it?

No man who writes about fashion and believes the idiocy of the empty-headed poofs who pimp this idiocy.

Why, they should add a tutu.

Aching to break out your powdered wigs and tri-cornered hats, aren't you?

Posted by: blue92 at January 22, 2007 12:13 AM

Bah!

This made me laugh (and vomit) today:

"the dawning of the 'mantellectual' - the modern, thinking man who is as comfortable being up to speed with current affairs and fashion as he is with his inherent sexuality and rugged maleness. Men like Noel Gallagher, Guy Ritchie and Paul Weller."

Right, the man who'll wrestle a bear in the afternoon (while wearing man-leggings) and talk Proust with me in the evening.

I can feel the bile rising in my throat already.

Dear all,

this reminds me of the old saying "If you have to ask what 'cool' is, you aren't."

And ... since when was Noel Gallagher "up to speek with current affairs"? Just a thought ...

'Man leggins' ... is it the 80s again? Or is "Robin Hood - Prince In Tights II" coming out?

On that note, I am waiting for SD to provide photographic evidence of those 'man leggins' being all the rage in the Sandlands.

PLEASE, I beg of you!

This post would have been better without the bigoted language.

Posted by: ziz at January 23, 2007 07:31 PM

I suspect the codpiece will be all the rage next year.

Posted by: subadei at January 23, 2007 10:22 PM

Bigoted language?

Bah, humourless poofterism.

Posted by: The Lounsbury at January 23, 2007 10:27 PM

It's the fact that gays not uncommonly face serious discrimination which made the slur 'poofs' bother me. I don't dispute that more colorful language can be more amusing, but still. I wouldn't have complained about, say, 'krauts', because Germans are not in a parallel situation.

Posted by: ziz at January 24, 2007 09:22 PM

Lots of people face serious discrimination, including me bloody woman.

However, I freely tell berber jokes in the right setting. Don't be a humourless git. The idiots who write such idiotic tripe fully deserve to be labelled, and frankly I can't think of anything but poof, or flaming idiotic fashion hags - actually the later would probably have been better, but I am facing mucho work and limited time.

Yes from now on I demand that you discontinue all use of "girl" "chick" "chica" "bint" and any other such word that perjoratively describes a member of homo sapiens with XX chromosomes.

Henceforth you may now refer to "vaginoid homo sapiens" and "penoid homo sapiens" should such a distinction ever be required.

Posted by: secretdubai [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 26, 2007 02:53 PM

And I didn't even know bint was slang. Brings her posts in an entirely new light. What a gaping hole in my knowledge of English.

Please, no jokes about gaping holes.

Ah sod off you silly poofter loving bint.
