Depressing in a way, amusing in others
Purely personal business.
Receiving an email from the firm Mging Director whose basic message is "massage results" although stated in a SOX compliant manner.
Roughly, to all Directors, sadly including me, he informs us that the CEO (a delusion Christ-botherer) is convinced the firm is "under-reporting value" (what that means other than he wants to find ways to boost numbers I don't know), although the message does to say we're explicity not being asked to massage numbers, but encourage better reporting. Which either means our accounting is fucked, which is out of my hands, or it means we're being asked to massage.....
So oddly familiar this. Why I think if you rewind a few years there are some financial scandals that began with such messages.
Ah well, I have known this place was Titanic for a while. If I just wasn't so addicted to being where I am - lifestyle choice really. No desire to go back to the Developed world and pay 4 Euro for a coffee, and not have a maid or two.

Everybody knows the boat is leaking
Everybody knows the captain lied
So how does one approach this? Do you try to wriggle out of having to 'over-report', do it but try to shift blame, or simply forget about it and pretend the mail never came?

One doesn't reply to the note directly.
One makes sure there is emails on your work server from you to a colleague calling this bollocks and that you're committed to upright SOX compliant work.
Then you ignore.
(Alternatively, you take another path that might lead one to be talking to US federal agents one day)
