Egyptian Committee for Boycotting
Priceless take away from an otherwise pedestrian article on the retail markets in certain of the MENA markets, the existence of an Egyptian Committee for Boycotting, headed of course by Nasserist cretinliving in a dream world where consumption is something alien to Egypt....
Typical left activist clap-trap at the end, but I love the committee name.

I remember in a previous life, I was sitting with a bunch of pro-Palestinian political activists. They were all calling for the boycott of coca-cola, levis, stuff like that. The anti-globo crowd, you know. I was like, no way, if you want me to boycott those, create some better substitute at a competitive price, and I'll take it. Most of them wouldn't even understand two words of such a sentence.
One of them liked the idea though, and did it. Well, his substitute product isn't better, but he played on the nationalist streak and he made a huge load of money. You probably have seen him on TV. He usually says his then 4 years old daughter told him the above...

My favorite boycott slogan is still "No 4 Denmark" - the boycotters wanted to be so hip & "with it" ... yet suck at even simple English.
Of course, the whole "xyz for blabla business" (like "Yasir for Construction") irks me every time I see it - which is, sadly, often. Ya'nii ... it's not like there'd be a "Yasir AGAINST construction" company somewhere else ...
Ah ... the fun that can be had when looking at Arablish signs.

Hey MSK - and I realize I'm being utterly hypocritical in making this request - how about some Lebanon stuff?

T,
Let me survive next week & THEN I should have breathing space to write something, I also have a long-ish comment on Damascus/Syria.
