Two years ago
A bit of nostalgia. two years ago this very weekend I had the fine occasion to begin that small bit of cancer unpleasantness.
I was just having a sit and a drink with my amigos and we laughed long and hard at my initial reaction (just a bit of blood and lung coughed up, it'll get better in the AM), which is so very typically me that no one who knows me is at all surprised.
Two years now. Well, the bloody Drs say the chemo toxicity is slowly ebbing although I still have the nerves thing.
Oddly I miss my habit of getting utterly zapped on my vicodin (or whatever it was they replaced me exocet with.... stronger in any case) and coffee and making client calls. The surreal quality of my convos on "alternative instruments" is a fond memory. The bone pain, the horrible grinding pain, not so fond a memory.
Not so fond also fighting for the proper pain relief.
It also appears, on this anniversary, following the considered advice of specialists that I am in fact not a mule now, but thankfully same specialists suggested the woman be patient a year given lingering toxicity.

I know that kind words are somewhat wasred on you, but still, I wish you a continuing quick recovery...

That which doesn't kill you, only makes you drunker.

Ah, kind words are rarely entirely wasted, but thanks mate.
I think I am going to celebrate four cancer anniversaries. Discovery, Diagnosis, Chemo Start, Clean Diag.
But then I like to make lemonade out of lemons, at least so I am pleased that I've got a year out.

On a purely selfish note, my life would be that much poorer without your informed and informative cuss-filled rants.
