Oh they're ber drining Arabs, why they're the model for the Arab world (Dubai)
This article is profoundly stupid and shallow on so many levels I am agog. Will return to it shortly.

A good metric of an article's assininity in this area is how many times the word moderate or its variations appear. Once, probably ok. But this one is a full three times, counting the photo caption.

having read enough NYT articles (and a few of these 'generation faithful' pieces) do you think that the use of the word 'moderate' was the choice of the journalist, Mona al-Naggar, or some "benign" editor trying to help explain how nightclubs & prostitutes 'moderate' Islamic extremists?
on the other hand, there are a lot of people who are enthusiastic about Dubai, Americans and Arabs alike - and incredible amounts of oil wealth seem to erase those usual profound American concerns about democracy and human rights.

The journalist is Michael Slackman. Mona al-Naggar just "contributed", whatever that means. Perhaps she did the interviewing in Egypt?

Moderate Arabs are as capable of using the m-word as the rest of journalists from "Western" media.
